"It's quite an inspiring story, really. How my parents ended up meeting each other and coming to Wales is pretty inspiring. It's such a cool heritage," Kane shared in an interview.
Despite never having visited Niue himself, Kane's connection to the island is evident. His 21st birthday celebrations were a testament to this, with traditional cloths, a pig roast, and classic Niuean dishes taking center stage. Chris, a distinguished player in Welsh club rugby, coached Kane during his formative years at St. Peter's RFC, one of the city's strongest junior clubs. Kane recalls, "We had a super team. A lot of us started there, and as we grew up, more people wanted to join us."
The rugby legacy extends to Kane's younger sister, Crystal, who was named in the Wales squad to face the Barbarians. Their journey is a testament to the power of family and how it can shape one's identity and path in life.
Crossing Borders
At 16, Kane's educational path took him to Sedbergh School in Cumbria, England, a move that eventually led him to the Exeter Chiefs and England's Under-20 set-up. But for Kane, it was never about turning his back on Wales.
"It was probably the best thing for my development. The system at Exeter was excellent, and the transition was smooth," he explained.
The turning point came over coffee with Wales head coach Steve Tandy, who kept in touch with Kane, sending clips of his games and offering guidance. When the invitation to join the Wales squad arrived, Kane's decision was already made.
"I was ecstatic. My dad and my agent were thrilled too. I committed to Wales the next day," Kane recalled.

"It was probably the proudest moment for my dad. My family back in Fishguard, I think that would mean the world to them," Kane said.
His grandfather, who grew up on a farm outside Fishguard and couldn't speak English until he was 13, embodies the Welsh spirit that runs deep in the family.
